Elám ese káj karilám
Ekhan phiriyá jabár pálá Phuler sájit́i bhariyá nilám Gáṋthiyá dilám málá |
I came and did the job;
Now it’s time to go back. I received a trayful of flowers, And threaded garland in return. |
Yo vine y realice el trabajo;
Nilám já kichu tár tulanáy
Dilám anek kam Nilám já kichu rauṋe rúpete Gandhe anupam |
Compared to what I received,
I exchanged much less. What I got in hue and form And fragrance was the best. |
Járá bhálobesechilo tádera lágiyá
Ashrubhejá e málá |
For those who had loved me,
This wreath is wet with tears. |
Cale jete halo karmer t́áne
Smrtikháni mor raye gelo práńe E madhur smrti e amar giiti Kakhano ki jáy bholá |
Drawn by duty I am leaving,
But memories stay with me for life. This sweet memory, this undying song, Can it ever be forgot? |
